Insights: ylocos KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL

Ilocos Sur's Festival aimed to promote and preserve the culture and heritage of the province.  As the title “kannawidan” which means a tradition.  “Kannawidan sangsangkamaysatay a rambakan.” Is the theme in the 7th Edition of Kannawidan Ilocos Festival 2015.
Coming in the midst of Ilocanos are the festivities which will surely allure our hearts to encompass the true essence of being a proud individual. It gives us a glimpse of how was the life before and how shall we face it today. People have experienced the thrill and fun in this year’s Kannawidan Festival.
The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur never fails to continue its outstanding ventures to enjoin the people together. Governor Singson mentioned: “We want to preserve our heritage, considering that Vigan is now included in the New Seven Wonder Cities of the world. The youth has a vital role in prospering our culture and be able to foster a genuine view of how can we sustain this milestone.”  This year brings us lots of changes and innovation as Gov. Ryan preferred it from a week of festivities extending it to almost a month, in order to have longer time to enjoy the event, giving opportunities to our constituents.
The Kannawidan Festival was opened with a mass at St. Paul Cathedral and the scenic procession of all the Municipal patrons around the heritage city of Vigan to give thanks as well as to pray for blessings in the coming festivities.
Governor Ryan Luis Singson, hereby gives you the 8th Kannawidan Ylocos Festival with a blast to celebrate Ilocano culture at its greatest mode. A venue and time to appreciate history, people and the quintessence of Ilocos Sur pride and Glory.

Kannawidan has really lived up to its mission and vision: preserving and perpetuating the rich Iloco cultural, artistic, historical and intellectual heritage. Kannawidan gatherings have always been a venue for Ilocanos, sharing and exchanging thoughts, views and insights on how to preserve and perpetuate the beautiful customs and traditions. May this continue and we, Ilocanos must work as one in the spirit of unity, to love our own culture and arts. Moreover, let us all preserve these cultures for next generations and this will serve as our trademark as an Ilocano.  Ilocos Sur is an amazing, wonderful, magnificent place!
